M43 Mountain Troops EM Bergmutze Cap
Introduced in the early 1930’s, this style cap served as the basis for the later, M-43 design. However, it has a noticeably shorter visor and higher crown, giving it a very distinctive style. The Enlisted model is made of the fine quality field grey wool and features a correct, grey-green cotton lining, pebbled buttons painted to match the cap according to regulations, and a partial sweatband in thin, grey or brown leather that is typical of higher quality caps. Available in sizes 56 through 61.

Typically, these have the earlier style, pebbled metal buttons painted to match the cap, as shown in the photo, but occasionally we have the cost saving, 4-hole plastic buttons that were used later in the war.
