The sniper’s badge was instituted on 20 August, 1944 by Adolf Hitler, “in recognition of the individual shooter with a rifle as a sniper, and for appreciation of the successes achieved here I introduce to the army and the Waffen SS, the sniper badge.”

M43 Mountain Troops EM Bergmutze Cap
Introduced in the early 1930’s, this style cap served as the basis for the later, M-43 design. However, it has a noticeably shorter visor and higher crown, giving it a very distinctive style. The Enlisted model is made of the fine quality field grey wool and features a correct, grey-green cotton lining, pebbled buttons painted to match the cap according to regulations, and a partial sweatband in thin, grey or brown leather that is typical of higher quality caps.
